Gemma Magica
Ca. 1750. Engraving. Unknown. Fine condition.
4" x 5.5"
The Gemma Magica contains a mystical-paracelsist cosmology, in which all of nature is presented as a book, its size the entire creation, its pages the elements and its alphabet the signatures of things. In order to understand this book, it should be read in a magical way, or else in the cabbalistic way under the guidance of Holy Scripture. Only in this way is it possible to understand and use the spagyric anatomy and the alchemical process in the macrocosm and microcosm. Print ID# 800127 $130.00

De Animalibus Subterraneis

Even though he was responsible for numerous and important innovations in the hiostory of science, he also managed to create many interesting scientifc oddities of mainly his own creation. Dragon--Hic eft Draco
1666. Engraving. Very good condition.
7" x 5"
Dragon
This is one of the not-so-fabulous of the polymathic and occasionaly Newtonesque Athanaseus Kircher, a Jesuit scientist and polyhypothesizer. Kircher produced much in the way of scientific innovations; he also produced his fair share of Virgin-Mary-in-Amber discoveries. Overall, he was spectacular, and this dragon is right pretty...
